Starting this Tuesday, the Airbnb platform will only accept reservations for accommodations from medical and emergency personnel in Mexico due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19.
Through a statement released by the technology firm, it announced that the decision is in order to support efforts against the coronavirus until April 30, according to the guidelines and recommendations of the Federal Government, the Ministry of Health (SS ) and the Union of Secretaries of Tourism of Mexico (Asetur).
The guideline with the name “Accommodation for Emergency Personnel” will support doctors, nurses, and personnel that contribute to the fight against COVID-19, so that the accommodations that contribute within the platform must comply with the security requirements and protocol of cleaning, such as an independent entrance, social distancing with the client and allowing 72 hours between the stays offered, among others.
“We appreciate the support of the hosts and guests affected by this measure. Airbnb will be reviewing these temporary measures on April 30, 2020, in line with the Government’s recommendations, and hoping to lift this measure as soon as possible, ”concluded Ángel Terral, Director of Airbnb for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.
